Covid-19: Portugal with 95 more deaths and 5,080 new cases

Portugal registered 95 more deaths and 5,080 new confirmed cases of covid-19 and in the last 24 hours, according to figures published by the General Directorate of Health.

It is the highest number of deaths in 24 hours since the pandemic began. So far, the day with the most deaths had been November 16, with 91 deaths.

The global number of deaths caused by the pandemic in Portugal is now 5,373 and the number of infected has reached a total of 340,287.

In the country there are 885 more active cases in 24 hours, in a total of 71,266 people still with the infection. 4,100 people recovered in this period, bringing to 263,648 the number of patients cured since the start of the pandemic.

In total 3,230 hospitalized, 74 less than the previous day. There are also two less hospitalized patients in the ICU, for a total of 507.

There are deaths in all regions of the country. The North continues to be the most affected region: it registers almost half of the new cases, 2,395 and 41 more deaths. Lisbon has 1,618 new cases and 32 more deaths, while the Central Region has 787 new cases and 16 more deaths.

In Alentejo there are 193 more infected and two deaths, in Algarve another 62 new cases and two deaths. The Azores have 16 new infections and one death and Madeira another five cases and one death.

The fatal victims of this bulletin are:
60-69 years: six men
70-79 years: 12 men and seven women
Over 80 years: 23 men and 47 women
