Covid-19: Portugal with 88 more deaths and 4,413 new cases

This Saturday, Portugal registered 88 more deaths and 4,413 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin from the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

One of the fatal victims is between 10 and 19 years old, which is the first death recorded in this age group. She is a patient.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 5,461 deaths and 344,700 cases of infection.

Currently, there are 70,786 active cases of covid-19, 480 fewer than on Friday.

Regarding hospital admissions, 3,093 people were hospitalized, 137 less than the day before, of which 503 are in intensive care (less four).

More than 4,800 patients have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 268,453.

Of the 88 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 38 occurred in the North, 26 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 21 in the Center and three in Alentejo.

The northern region has the highest number of new infections (2,078), with a total of 180,456 cases and 2,616 deaths since March.

In the Lisbon region, 1,347 new cases have been reported, with 111,982 cases and 1,889 deaths so far.

In the Central region there were 738 more cases, a total of 36,096 and 734 deaths since March.

In Alentejo, another 130 cases have been reported, for a total of 7,743 cases and 141 deaths since the epidemic began in Portugal.

The Algarve region has reported 62 new cases today, for a total of 6,077 cases and 58 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 31 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 1,301 infections and 20 deaths.

Madeira registered 27 new cases. Since March, the autonomous community has recorded 1,045 infections and three deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 154,947 men and 189,620 women in Portugal, with 133 cases of unknown sex being investigated, since these data are provided automatically.

Of the total deaths, 2,862 were men and 2,599 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
