Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 3,971 deaths (+74) and 264,802 (+4,044) cases of contagion, of which 84,004 are active, 62 more than on Sunday.

The DGS indicates that, of the 74 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 35 occurred in the North region, 26 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 10 in the Center region, two in the Alentejo and one in the Algarve. In the autonomous communities, no deaths are registered.

Health authorities have 82,025 contacts under surveillance, 358 more than yesterday, and 3,902 patients have been reported to have recovered in the last 24 hours, a cumulative total of 176,827 since the pandemic began.

According to the bulletin, 55.8 percent of the new cases are located in the North, which represented another 2,258 infections in the last 24 hours, totaling 137,621 contagion cases and 1,857 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, another 1,052 new cases of infection have been reported, representing 90,035 cases of infection and 1,447 deaths so far.

In the Central region there were 490 more cases of contagion, with 25,503 and 509 deaths.

In Alentejo, 68 new cases were registered, with a total of 5,237 and 98 deaths.

The Algarve region today reported 126 more cases of infection, totaling 4,805 cases and 43 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 31 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 810 detected infections and 15 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Madeira registered 19 new cases in the last 24 hours, representing 791 infections and two deaths.

In the bulletin, the General Directorate of Health indicates that on November 16 an update of the data analysis technology system of SINAVE (National Epidemiological Surveillance System) was carried out, updating the accumulated of confirmed and recovered cases to that date. .

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 116,915 men and 143,055 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Today’s bulletin indicates that there are 4,832 confirmed cases of unknown sex that are under investigation, as this data is not automatically released.

Of the total deaths, 2,056 were men and 1,915 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
