Covid-19: Portugal with 61 more dead and 549 infected

Portugal registered 61 more deaths and 549 new cases of covid-19, according to this Monday’s bulletin from the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

This is, by the way, the lowest number since October 6, when 427 cases were recorded.

The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is now 16,023, with a total number of cases of 798,074.

There are now 2,187 more people recovered from the disease, and the number of active cases has dropped further. Now there are minus 1,699 out of a total of 80,642.

The number of hospitalizations has increased: this Monday’s bulletin indicates 3,322 hospitalized patients (six more than the previous day). On the contrary, the number of people in Intensive Care Units fell to 627 (11 less than the previous day).

Of the 61 deaths indicated in the report, 33 were registered in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, which also has the most new cases, 278.

This is followed by the northern region, where there are 107 additional new cases and eight deaths. In the Center there are 48 more infected and 15 deaths, in Alentejo 33 new cases and two deaths and in the Algarve 22 cases and two deaths.

In Madeira, there are 56 new cases and one death, while in the Azores, five more are infected.
