This is the third day in a row that cases have counted above six thousand.

Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 3,381 deaths and 217,301 cases of infection by the new coronavirus, with 88,854 cases already active, 3,410 more than on Saturday.

The DGS indicates that of the 76 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 44 occurred in the North region, 19 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 11 in the Center region and two in the Algarve.

Regarding hospital admissions, the epidemiological bulletin reveals that 2,929 people are hospitalized (131 more) and of these 415 are in intensive care (two more).

The North is the region that registers the most new cases, with 4,022 reported in the last 24 hours, totaling 109,861 contagion cases and 1,563 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The highest number of new daily cases of SARS-Cov-2 infection was recorded on Friday, with 6,653 cases.

The DGS also says that health authorities have 94,604 contacts under surveillance, more 2,668 compared to Saturday, and that 2,549 more patients have been recovered in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 125,066 since the start of the pandemic in March. .

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 98,177 men and 119,124 women in Portugal. Among the fatalities are 1,725 ​​men and 1,656 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
