COVID-19. Portugal with 1,175 deaths and 28,132 confirmed cases – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 28,132 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 219 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health published this Wednesday, May 13. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country increased to 1,175, which corresponds to 12 additional deaths in the last 24 hours.

The epidemiological bulletin released this morning indicates that, to date, 282,961 suspected cases have been recorded and 2,686 people are still awaiting the results of Covid-19 laboratory tests. Currently there are 252,143 unconfirmed cases after the analysis, and 26,278 are under surveillance by health authorities.

DGS reveals that there are currently 16,112 cases registered in the North, 3,559 in the Center, 7,647 in Lisbon, 351 in the Algarve, 135 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 90 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 238 cases in the Alentejo.

Of the total 1,175 deaths, 667 occurred in the north, 221 in the center, 257 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 14 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, one in Alentejo, and none recorded in Madeira.

The DGS bulletin lists one male fatality between the ages of 20 and 29, six female fatalities, and six male victims between the ages of 40 and 49. There were 28 male and 10 female victims in the age group of 50 to 59 years, 67 victims between 60 and 69 men and 37 women, 136 men and 96 women between 70 and 79 years. There are also 335 male victims and 453 female victims over the age of 80.

There are currently 692 hospitalized patients, of whom 103 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 3,182 cases recovered in Portugal, an increase of 169 compared to the report published yesterday.

Lisbon is the municipality with the most confirmed cases, with a total of 1,811, followed by Vila Nova de Gaia with 1,461 and Porto with 1,306. Matosinhos with 1,217, Braga with 1,153 and Gondomar with 1,050. Maia with 909, Sintra with 790, Valongo with 737 and Ovar with 636.

Guimarães also experienced an increase in cases, currently it has 666, while Coimbra has 561 and Loures has 559. Amadora has 484, Cascais has 453 and Santa Maria da Feira has 448 confirmed cases. The number of imported cases was 770.

The age group with the most confirmed cases is 50-59 years (1,876 men and 2,870 women), with a total of 4,746 after 40 to 49 years (1,887 men and 2,841 women), with a total of 4,728. There are 1,356 infected children and adolescents between 0 and 19 years of age. There are currently 11,608 men and 16,524 women infected with the new coronavirus.

The number of cases in the age groups between 30 and 39 years and 60 and 69 years has increased. The DGS bulletin supposes 1,741 men and 2,331 women infected between 30 and 39 years, and 1,463 men and 1,704 women with confirmed cases between 60 and 69 years. There are currently 2,892 women over 80 infected with Covid-19.

The age group between 20 and 29 years has also seen a considerable increase in positive cases, with 1,501 men and 1,910 women with positive cases to date.

In relation to symptoms, the most reported are cough (42%), fever (30%), muscle pain (21%), headache (20%), generalized weakness (15%) and respiratory difficulties (12%) .
