Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has already registered 5,041 deaths and 325,071 cases of infection by the new coronavirus, with 269 active cases.

The DGS indicates that of the 78 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 38 occurred in the northern region, 24 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 14 in the Center region, 2 in Alentejo and no regrettable deaths in the Algarve .

Regarding hospital admissions, the epidemiological bulletin reveals that 3,367 people are hospitalized (99 more than yesterday). In intensive care there are 513 patients (one less than yesterday).

The DGS also states that the health authorities have 77,498 contacts under surveillance, plus 78 compared to Sunday, and that 2,788 patients were recovered in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 245,843 since the start of the pandemic in March.

In the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley, 917 new cases of infection were reported, with 106 138 cases and 1751 deaths.

In the North, more than 1,231 new cases were registered, totaling 170,952 and 2,431 deaths.

In the Central region, there were 292 more cases of infection, which now represent 33,154 and 657 deaths.

In Alentejo, 92 new cases were registered, with a total of 6,950 and 127 deaths.

The Algarve region has reported today 35 more cases of infection, adding 5,714 cases and 55 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 21 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 1,192 detected infections and 18 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Madeira registered 9 new cases in the last 24 hours, representing 971 infections and 2 deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 40 and 49 years, both in men and women.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 143,026 men and 175,893 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Today’s bulletin indicates that there are 6,152 confirmed cases of unknown sex that are under investigation, as this data is not automatically released.

Of the total deaths, 2,640 were men and 2,401 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
