More than 100,000 Portuguese installed the wrong application to track the new coronavirus. Why? There is an application of Spanish origin with a name very similar to StayAway Covid.

The Spanish Stayaway, which measures the distance between people who use Bluetooth, recorded most of his downloads after the launch of the Portuguese StayAway Covid. Which, as Expresso reports, “leads you to believe” that these downloads It happened due to confusion with the names.

The creators of the Portuguese application have already contacted Google, but the company was reluctant to remove or block the Spanish application in the Portuguese market. However, it is no longer available on the Play Store.

The Portuguese application, developed by INESC TEC in partnership with the Government, was launched on August 28 in Android and iOS operating systems and has more than 925 thousand downloads.
