Portugal reached a new daily record of infections by the new coronavirus: in the last 24 hours, counted 3,669 new cases of Covid-19, 770 cases more than on Friday. It is the second time since the beginning of the pandemic that the country exceeds three thousand cases a dayPortugal exceeded this level two days ago: on October 22, 3,270 new cases of infection were registered.

The 12 worst days of the pandemic in terms of new cases were all registered in October and there are still seven days until the end of the month. The accounting was made for the 20 worst days of the pandemic, only three were not this month: on April 10, 1,516 new cases were registered, 1,035 on March 31 and 963 on April 3.

In the last 24 hours there were still 21 deaths, 10 less than this Friday. Eleven were recorded in the northern region, six in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in Alentejo, one in the center and one in the Algarve. The fatal victims are seven men and six women over 80 years old, one man between 70 and 79 years old, three men and one woman between 60 and 69 years old and three men between 50 and 59 years old.

There have never been so many hospitalized for Covid-19 in Portugal. According to Saturday’s bulletin, there are 1,455 people hospitalized, 37 more cases than this Friday. Of these cases of hospitalization, there are 221 in Intensive Care Units (ICU), plus 23 cases in the last 24 hours. Portugal has broken the hospitalization record for three consecutive days: This Friday there were 1,418 people hospitalized and on Thursday 1365.

Portugal, therefore, accounts for 116,109 confirmed cases of infection and 2,297 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The region This Saturday it exceeded two thousand daily infections. Of the 3,669 new cases, 2,212 were registered in this region, which represents 60.3% of all new cases. In Lisbon and Vale do Tejo there were 1,027 more cases, in the Center region another 273 cases, in Alentejo 96 and Algarve 54. Madeira represented three more cases and the Azores another four.

In the last 24 hours, more recovery cases than active cases (people with active infection). This Saturday, 1,686 new active cases were registered in Covid-19, totaling 45,970, and 1,962 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, totaling 67,842 recovery cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are even fewer 431 surveillance contacts in the last 24 hours.
