On the day when thousands of students returned to the classrooms, Mariana Viera da Silva highlighted the “significant reinforcement of operational assistants, teachers and technicians.” This leads her to refute the “idea that schools are not prepared” and guarantees that “if there is a safe place, if there is a place that is working to guarantee all the conditions, that place is the school”.

In an interview with TVI this Monday, the Minister of State and Presidency considers that “the most important thing is to tell all Portuguese that, since July, schools have been working to receive children and young people” and considers that the government is doing “The necessary effort and establishing the necessary rules”.

Mariana Vieira da Silva admits that “today we are seeing a more negative evolution of the pandemic, worse than 15 days ago.” Regarding the new contingency measures, effective as of this Tuesday, the Minister of State and Presidency stressed that the Government made this decision “because it knew we would have a large movement of people.”

The contingency plan, he argues, “is really so that we can accommodate this return to school for all youth and children and the return to work for many who have been telecommuting up to now. These are “necessary and never more than necessary” measures.

Also questioned about the gatherings in Fátima or the Festa do Avante, Mariana Vieira da Silva says that “the Government cannot currently limit political or religious events.”.
