The Minister of Internal Administration, Eduardo Cabrita, determined “the opening of an urgent investigation” by the General Inspection (IGAI) after the incidents that occurred this Monday in the monitoring of the distribution of vaccines against covid-19 in Évora, revealed the minister’s office in a statement sent to the newsrooms.

Eduardo Cabrita also requested the Secretary General of the Internal Security System “information on the traffic monitoring and clearance rules defined to make this distribution effective,” the note adds.

According to TVI, a disagreement between the PSP in Évora and the GNR prevented the departure of the van that was distributing the covid-19 vaccine in the south of the country. Although the security of these vans is in charge of GNR, the PSP of Évora considered that this was its jurisdiction, so the military of the national guard who escorted the van in question from Coimbra would have been blocked by the PSP after the delivery of the first. batch of vaccines at the Évora hospital and before the vehicle heads to Baixo Alentejo and Algarve.

In the late afternoon, around 7:30 pm, PSP and GNR reached an agreement and decided to proceed with a shared escort.
