Covid-19 in Portugal: 63 more deaths and 4,096 new cases of infection

This Monday, Portugal registered 63 more deaths and 4,096 new cases of covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, according to the daily bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The country thus registers a new record of deaths. Of the total, 33 occurred in the North, 22 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, five in the Center, one in Alentejo, one in the Algarve and one in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Portugal now has a total of 183,420 confirmed cases since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, as well as 2,959 deaths, of which 1,991 were 80 years or older.

There are 129 more hospitalized patients and another 13 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The northern region continues to be the most affected by the second wave. Of the 4,096 new cases registered this Monday, 2,265 were registered in the North, 1,127 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 379 in the Center, 148 in Alentejo, 60 in the Algarve, 16 in the Azores and 11 in Madeira.

According to the DGS bulletin, 2,302 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 83,086 men and 100,334 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Of the total deaths, 1,518 were men and 1,441 women.
