On the last day, Portugal registered 111 deaths from covid-19 and 1502 new infections from SARS-CoV-2. The data appears in the latest bulletin of the Directorate General of Health, published on Tuesday, and refers to Monday.
According to the epidemiological bulletin, there are less than 350 people hospitalized and 32 fewer in intensive care units. In recent days, only on February 13 had there been a steeper decline, with fewer 380 people hospitalized and 43 fewer in intensive care. A total of 4,482 patients remain hospitalized, of which 752 require intensive care.
The number of people who recovered from the disease on the last day is 8,865 (a total of 677,719). Only on February 9 had more recovered (15,157).
As for the number of deaths, it increased between the last and the current bulletin, from 90 to 111. Before, 102 deaths had been registered on January 10 and 111 on January 9. The number of new cases also increased between one day and another in 1303 cases for 1502.
Regarding the number of active cases, there are 7,474 fewer, with a total of 95,320.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country since the beginning of the pandemic is 788,561 and the number of deaths is 15,522. There are fewer 8341 people under surveillance (123,180 people have been under surveillance to date).
It was in the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley where the most deaths occurred on the last day (59 out of a total of 6,394). In this area of the country, there were 610 additional new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection (a cumulative total of 296,820). In the North there were 20 deaths on the last day and 406 new cases. The total number of deaths in this area is 5070 and the number of confirmed cases is 322,511.
In the Central region, 20 deaths were also registered in the last day, with a total of 2,765. As for new cases, there were 300, out of a total of 112,694. In Alentejo there were 10 deaths and 65 new cases (a total of 898 and 27,852, respectively). In the Algarve, there are two more deaths to be registered (in a total of 308) and 74 new cases (in 19,472 already confirmed).
In the Azores and Madeira there were no deaths on the last day. Madeira has 46 new infections, in a total of 5,540 confirmed cases and 59 deaths to date. The Azores reported a new case, with a total of 3,672 confirmed infections and 28 deaths.
Portugal had registered, on Sunday, the lowest number of daily deaths in the last 41 days and the lowest number of new cases in the last 51. According to the data, published on Monday and referring to the whole day of Sunday, there were 1303 more cases (the lowest figure since December 26, when 1,214 cases were registered) and 90 deaths associated with covid-19, the lowest figure since January 5, when 90 deaths were also registered.
