SAccording to an article, published in the scientific journal Nature, Chinese scientists identified the structure of the main protease (Mpro), the new coronavirus. The discovery could be a turning point for the formulation of drugs capable of stopping Covid-19.

A Mpro is a specific enzyme for SarscoV-2 with a determining role when it comes to virus replication and transmission. And that’s why studying to be honest that portion of microorganism fundamental, that is, scientists intend to create drugs capable of stopping these stages of development of the new coronavirus.

For the purposes of that investigation, Chinese researchers identified the protease structure and transformed it into a 3D image. They then analyzed more than 10,000 compounds with the potential to inhibit Mpro.

The experts stated that during the experiment they were detected six compounds capable of preventing the enzyme from working. The authors of the research argued in statements to the media that the data collected can help identify drugs that can be used to effectively treat Covid-19 and also promote the creation of preventive vaccines.

As such, in this relentless quest to stop the deadly disease, Chinese scientists have decided to provide the information they have brought together more than 300 research teams around the world.
