“Areas dedicated to respiratory diseases will be created, as a result of the evolution of areas dedicated to covid” and the “learning” that was done with these structures, said António Lacerda Sales, in the framework of the conference “Value and strengthen services of Health in the Region of Leiria “, organized by the Economic and Social Group of the Region of Leiria, in the Monastery of Batalha.

Lacerda Sales also said that Portugal “will double the testing capacity.”
“We were doing around 12/13 thousand tests, we want to reach 24 thousand tests a day and that doubles our testing capacity,” he declared.
The Undersecretary of State and Health – elected by the PS by the Leiria circle – stressed that Portugal has already tested “more than two million people and 240,000 per million inhabitants.”
“We are the sixth country in Europe to carry out tests. We are expanding our network of laboratory expansion, which will be reflected in the different regions. It focuses on the National Health Service, but also on the support of academia and the private sector. We will surely be able to carry out between 43 and 45 thousand daily tests at the country level, joining these three forces ”, he stressed.
