This estimate of the number of municipalities with more than 240 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants in the last 15 days was presented by Eduardo Cabrita moments before the parliament authorized the entry into force of the presidential decree for the extension of the state of emergency in Portugal .

“The panorama that we have, according to the available data, indicates that the number of municipalities will almost certainly exceed two hundred. Therefore, it is necessary to continue making the differentiation that has always been made in the adoption of measures ”, declared the Minister of the Interior.

Eduardo Cabrita referred to the recent evolution of covid-19 cases by municipality in Portugal, noting that on November 2, 121 municipalities were placed within the framework of the application of more restrictive measures.

“On November 12, this framework of restrictions, already in a state of emergency, was extended to 191 municipalities,” he said.

The Government meets today in the Council of Ministers to approve the measures in the area of ​​the extension of the state of emergency, which will be announced on Saturday at a press conference.
