Covid-19: Government considers creating three levels of municipalities with differentiated measures

The Government is considering creating three levels of municipalities and adopting different measures to contain the covid-19 in each of them, the deputy and leader of the ENP José Luís Ferreira revealed this Tuesday.

After a meeting with the President of the Republic, in the Palace of Belém, in Lisbon, the deputy of the Ecological Party “Os Verdes” (ENP) declared to journalists that the possibility of the Government “scale municipalities according to severity”, in a state of emergency, was communicated by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

There would be a minimum step for those counties that have between 240 and 480 daily cases [por 100 mil habitantes], that was the minimum level, which means that the restrictions there will be lighter. Then there is an intermediate step that involves the municipalities between 480 cases and 960; and a maximum step, where the restrictions will be more intense, in cases where the municipalities verify a number greater than 960 ”.he said.

According to the ENP deputy, only in the municipalities of this last step “is that there would be the limits that now exist at the weekend level”.

That is to say, contrary to what is happening with this state of emergency, apparently the Government will be considering dividing or scaling the municipalities into three according to the severity ”., he reiterated.

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, is listening, between today and Wednesday, to the nine parties with parliamentary seat on the covid-19 pandemic, the state of emergency and the State Budgets for 2021.

Regarding the State Budgets, José Luís Ferreira said that the PEV is waiting for the Government’s response to the modification proposals that his party has presented and that “everything is open” regarding the general final vote.

However, he stressed that “The Greens” will decide their vote “insensitive to any pressure from abroad” and “regardless of any wave of crisis.”
