A source from the Communication Office of the Espírito Santo de Évora Hospital (HESE) told the Lusa agency that, as of 12:00 today, 13 home users had been transported to the area dedicated to covid-19 of the emergency service.

“All the patients were evaluated and four were admitted to the room for covid-19,” said the same source, stating that the other nine “have no entry criteria,” so they “wait at the HESE to return home.”

Home users began to be transported to the Évora hospital on Saturday night to “confirm any criteria for hospitalization” in this unit, according to the Alentejo Regional Health Administration (ARS).

The Public Health Authority and the Association of Health Centers (ACES) revealed that, of the total of 39 people tested at home, “so far 29 users and seven positive employees have been confirmed” for the disease caused by the new coronavirus SARS- CoV. -two.

The first positive case detected in this home was that of an elderly man who was transported to HESE on Thursday, where he was tested for the disease.

On Friday the tests were carried out on the rest of the users and all the household employees, which according to the city council, on Saturday morning, showed 39 positives, that is, 29 elderly people and 10 workers, although now the Health only confirms seven employees.

The mayor of Évora, Carlos Pinto de Sá, revealed that the house is illegal because it is located in an area of ​​the city whose urbanization plan does not allow the installation of this type of institutions.

On Saturday, the authorities evaluated the elderly with covid-19 and the conditions of the institution, to decide on a possible evacuation of the space, but this did not happen during the day, and the places where users could possibly be transferred were also evaluated. . .

At a press conference, the mayor of Évora announced that, in addition to the first case of covid-19, another home user is also hospitalized in HESE, both in nursing, and that “70 years is the average age of the people” who are in institution.
