The incidence of the pandemic, measured by the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, decreased in two hundred Portuguese municipalities in the week from November 25 to December 2, according to data released this Monday by the General Directorate of (DGS).

Comparing the data from November 25 to December 2 and those from November 12 to 25, the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days fell in 200 municipalities, remained unchanged in 14 and increased in 94.

The greatest decrease in this indicator, used to classify municipalities by risk, was recorded in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, with a decrease of one thousand cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. Even so, this municipality has an incidence of 2,153 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest value in the entire country, as, incidentally, happened a week earlier. At the opposite extreme is Marvão, with an increase from 699 to 1,398 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which led this municipality to go from very high risk to extreme risk.

Only two municipalities with more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
Only two municipalities have more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on December 2. In addition to Freixo de Espada à Cinta, only Mondim de Basto exceeds that threshold, accounting for 2,040 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. A week before, there were five municipalities above that barrier.

In third place in terms of incidence is Gavião, with 1,931 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. They are followed by Trofa (1,848), Guimarães (1,814), Vila Nova de Famalicão (1,789) and Fafe (1,656).

There are 32 municipalities that register more than a thousand cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 16 less than the 48 municipalities above that mark on November 25.
