Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 1,888 deaths associated with COVID-19 and 66,396 cases of infection, according to the epidemiological bulletin published today by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

In relation to yesterday, there were 10 more deaths, 770 infected and 266 recovered. In total, there are already 44,794 recovery cases in Portugal.

The last time Portugal registered more than 770 new cases was on April 10, when it counted 1,516 infections.

According to today’s data, the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley with 373 new infections (48.44%) and the North with 255 (33.17%) represent 81.56% of all new infections.

The epidemiological situation report, with data updated until midnight yesterday, indicates that the North region is the one with the highest number of deaths related to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with 864 (+5) deaths, followed by Lisbon. and Vale do Tejo (711 +2), Centro (256 +2) and Alentejo (23 +1). The Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley is the area of ​​the country with the highest number of infections, with 33,960 (+373), followed by the North (23,984 +255), the Central Region (5,480 +97), the Algarve (1,304 + 27) and Alentejo (1,231 +14). In the Azores there are 241 confirmed cases (+1) and in Madeira 196 (+3).

Age groups most affected

By age groups, the highest number of deaths is concentrated in people over 80 years of age, with 1,259 (+8) deaths registered since the start of the pandemic, followed by those aged 70 to 79 (378 +1), among 60 and 69 years (164 +1) and between 50 and 59 years (58 =).

The data also indicates that, of the total deaths, 952 are men and 936 women.

Ages with more cases

Regarding the incidence of cases, the age group between 30 and 39 years is the most affected, with a total of 10,920 (+157), followed by the age group between 40 and 49 years, with 10,852 (+150), and the age group between 20 and 29 years old, with 10,617 cases (+113).

The data also indicates that, since the start of the pandemic, there have been 29,987 infected men and 36,409 women, and the sex of 156 cases is unknown.

China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) officially recorded a total of 85,223 cases (nine new between Wednesday and today), including 4,634 deaths (none new) and 80,448 recoveries.

Latin America and the Caribbean totaled 316,572 deaths to 8,480,585 cases, Europe 223,326 deaths (4,660,226 cases), United States and Canada 206,064 deaths (6,770,982 cases), Asia 120,247 deaths (6,857,575 cases), Middle East 41,115 deaths (1,738,023 cases), Africa 33,253 deaths (1,376,017 cases) and Oceania 896 deaths (30,889 cases).
