Covid-19: 48 more deaths and 5,784 new cases in Portugal – News

Portugal has already registered 179,324 confirmed cases of contagion by the new coronavirus and 2,896 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the epidemiological bulletin prepared daily by the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The highest number of deaths was registered in the northern region (+27), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus valley (+14), the central area (+4), the Alentejo (+2) and the Algarve (+1) .

Regarding the increase in detected cases of infection, it is in the North where the greatest increase continues (+3,923), followed by the Lisbon region and Vale do Tejo (1,073), Centro (+590), Alentejo (+91), Algarve (+74), Azores (+20) and Madeira (+13).

Regarding hospitalizations, the number of people hospitalized in the ward is 2,522 (+ 102) and of these 378 (+12) are in Intensive Care Units.

The number of patients recovered in the last 24 hours is 2,034.

The DGS also says that health authorities have 90,506 contacts under surveillance, 844 fewer compared to Saturday.

The North region continues to be the one that registers the most new cases, with 3,923 reported in the last 24 hours, totaling 86.28, totaling 1,306 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, in March.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, another 1,073 new cases of infection were reported, now accounting for 68,798 cases and 1,123 deaths.

In the Central region, there were 590 more cases of infection, representing 16,347 and 356 deaths.

In Alentejo, 91 new cases of covid-19 were registered, with a total of 3,452 and 65 deaths.

The Algarve region today reported 74 more cases of infection, now totaling 3,441 cases and 30 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 20 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding 455 detected infections and 15 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Madeira registered 13 cases in the last 24 hours, representing 547 infections and one death.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 81,282 men and 98,042 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Of the total deaths, 1,485 were men and 1,411 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
