This Tuesday’s bulletin from the Directorate General of Health records another 1,876 cases of covid-19, 15 deaths and 1,932 cured in Portugal (data from Monday). In total, there are now 103,736 confirmed cases, 2,213 deaths, and 61,898 recovered.

The number of active cases is 39,625, 71 less than on Monday, because the number of recovered patients is greater than the sum of newly infected and deceased. This has not happened since August 15 (-16).

The confirmed infections in the last 24 hours are less than Monday (73 people less) and, for the third day in a row, they are below 2,000 cases, which occurred between Wednesday and Saturday. The growth rate of new cases compared to the previous day is 1.84%.

There are two fewer deaths (15) than the previous day (17), but it is still slightly above the average of the last seven days (14.7) and well above that of the last 30 days (10).

The number of people recovered is the highest in almost five months, with 9,844 cured persons registered on May 24, the result of a large-scale statistical update by the DGS. However, by Saturday a close figure had already been registered (1,853). The growth rate in 24 hours is 3.22%.

There are 63 more people hospitalized in Portuguese hospitals, bringing the total to 1,237. You have to go back to April 19 to see a higher figure: 1,243 hospitalized patients. Portugal has 65 hospitalizations at the peak of the pandemic, which took place in this segment on April 16, when there were 1,302 hospitalized patients.
