COVID-19. 109 municipalities in mainland Portugal at extreme and very high risk

According to the list of risk levels released by the Government, after the Council of Ministers in which the measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic for Christmas and New Year were evaluated and adjusted, there are now 30 municipalities at extreme risk contagion, five less than on December 2 and 79 very high risk, one more than at the beginning of December.

The number of municipalities considered high risk remains unchanged, 92, while the moderate risk municipalities are now 77, four more than at the beginning of the month.

Despite the update of the lists, the restrictions applied by the covid-19 pandemic in each of the municipalities, although they have risen or fallen, remain unchanged until the new state of emergency enters into force on December 24.

To Lisbon Metropolitan Area, comprising 18 municipalities, now has five municipalities of the highest level: Almada, Barreiro, Lisboa, Moita and Montijo.

Fifteen days ago, Almada, Barreiro and Lisbon were already at this level, but Moita and Montijo went from high to very high risk.

No high level is 13 countiesLoures has dropped from the very high level in the last two weeks. They are Alcochete, Amadora, Cascais, Loures, Mafra, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.

In Porto metropolitan area, for the first time since the beginning of the division by risk levels, a municipality left the highest risk levels: Vale de Cambra, which 15 days ago was considered a municipality with a very high risk of contagion, went to the high risk level .

No extreme risk level are now only four counties, half of which were on December 2. Oliveira de Azeméis went from very high risk to extreme and Póvoa de Varzim, Trofa and Vila do Conde stay on the same level.

The remaining 12 municipalities of the Porto Metropolitan Area are at a very high risk level: Arouca, Espinho, Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Paredes, Porto, Santa Maria da Feira, Santo Tirso, São João da Madeira, Valongo and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Espinho, Paredes, Santa Maria de Feira, Santo Tirso, São João da Madeira were the counties that went from extreme to very high risk in the last two weeks.

In November, the executive divided the 278 municipalities of the continent into four groups, according to the level of risk of transmission: moderate, high (between 240 and 480 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), very high (between 480 and 960) and extremely high (over 960).
