A woman tested positive for COVID-19 and her partner must be in prophylactic isolation, as he is a risky contact.

A GNR patrol in Vila Flor, district of Bragança, detained, on Thursday, a couple who were walking on public roads, in a village of that municipality, for failure to comply with the prophylactic isolation measure determined by the health authorities.

In a statement, that security force said that the arrest of the 60-year-old woman and the 59-year-old man came after a verification action of the prophylactic isolation measures. “The soldiers went to the residence of those targeted, where they found that they had been absent from the home. After the police investigations, it was found that the suspects were walking on public roads.”

As the JN learned, the couple lives in the town of Sampaio. The woman must still be isolated because she tested positive for COVID-19 and the man was indicated to be in prophylactic isolation because he was considered a risk contact and was awaiting the result of a screening test.

Both “were taken to their homes, accused, and the facts were referred to the Vila Flor Justice Court,” the statement said.

In its simple form, the practice of a crime of disobedience can be punishable by imprisonment of up to 1 year or a fine of up to 120 days.

Shortly after this, the 59-year-old tested positive.
