Several Portuguese fashion designers are going to open a temporary store in the city of Guimarães, between November 27 and December 19, on the occasion of the first initiative of the “Uma Voz” manifesto, by professional category.

“For the first time, at the request of the ‘designers’, an action is promoted that reinforces the collaborative narrative of the sector [da moda], showing that union is strength. An initiative to support national production and the local economy, celebrating the author’s fashion and the quality of ‘Portuguese design, a DNA that is ours’, reveals Katty Xiomara, Portuguese ‘designer’ and spokesperson for the “Uma Voz” manifesto.

Twenty-five Portuguese fashion designers recently sent a manifesto, called “Uma Voz”, to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister requesting professional status and the desire to create an Order of Designers.

The temporary store will be open between November 27 and December 19, in the historic center of Guimarães, in the Braga district, and will serve to mark the first initiative of “Uma Voz”.

The space will be installed in the Pé de Chumbo store, at 85 Rua Dona Maria II, Katty Xiomara told Lusa.

The store will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays and holidays, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., between November 27 and December 19. .

The author’s fashion manifesto, called “Uma Voz”, is signed by 25 ‘designers’ of various generations and from various places in Portugal, and was sent to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Minister of Culture, Secretary of State for Tourism, Minister of Economy and various associations in the fashion, textile and footwear sector, such as Portugal Fashion, Moda Lisboa, Portuguese Association of the Footwear Industry Articles of Components Leather and Substitutes (APPICAPS) and the Portuguese Association of Textiles and Clothing (ATP).

The recognition of the professional class of ‘designers’ as “active agents of development and representation of the national identity with direct reflection in the fields of tourism, culture and the textile industry, within and outside our borders”, is the first objective of the “Uma Voz” demonstration, said Katty Xiomara.

Alexandra Moura, Duarte, Anabela Baldaque, Carla Pontes, Carlos Gil, Daniela Barros, David Catalán, Dino Alves, Diogo Miranda, Fátima Lopes, Filipe Faísca, Hugo Costa, João Melo Costa, Estelita Mendonça, Storytailors, Júlio Torcato, Katty Xiomara, Luís Carvalho, Luís Buchinho, Hibu Studio, Miguel Vieira, Pé de Chumbo, Ricardo Andrez, Sara * Maia, Susana Bettencourt are the 25 fashion designers in Portugal who signed the manifesto.
