The constitutionalist Bacelar Gouveia is being investigated for suspicions of facilitating the granting of doctorates to students from some African Countries of the Official Portuguese Language (PALOP) in exchange for counterparts, according to reports on Wednesday by the magazine Olá and TVI.

According to Saturday, the suspicions about the constitutionalist go back to the “Tutti-Frutti” process, when the Judicial Police intercepted telephone conversations between Bacelar Gouveia and the former PSD deputy Sérgio Azevedo, his student at the Universidade Nova and preparing a doctorate.

A complaint will have reached the Superior Council so that the Judicial Power can report on the investigation. To the magazine, Bacelar Gouveia guaranteed that the Public Ministry had never heard him about these events.

According to TVI, the lawyer is suspected of attributing these doctorates in exchange for diamonds. The news is released a few days before Bacelar Gouveia knows the response to the candidacy he made to the Supreme Court of Justice as a “lawyer of merit.”
