As predicted here and here, Barbara’s new depression, named by AEMET, hit Portuguese territory last Monday. This brought wind and heavy rains, already causing extensive damage throughout the country.. Next, we see the force of the wind in the Trás-os-Montes region.

The first day of the passage of this depression, in Portugal, resulted in floods caused by heavy rain and wind damage, such as falling trees. The number of floods continues to increase and are located throughout the national territory, although most are concentrated in the Central and Southern regions. The images below refer to Vila Real.

In Vila Nova de Gaia, on Lavadores beach, there are photographic records of damage to terraces, caused by strong winds. In addition, this storm was expected to affect the Iberian Peninsula, during the dawn of today it already caused floods in Spain, as you can see in the video below.

The IPMA has already released several weather advisories on wind, precipitation and sea agitation. Since then, the red warnings have spread to more districts in the center and south of the country, and more serious incidents are now expected throughout Tuesday in districts such as Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora, Beja, Faro. With an orange warning are, among others, the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra and Porto.
