Chamber of Tondela announces investment of 95 million euros from 12 companies – O Jornal Economico

The mayor of Tondela announced that 12 companies, which have their headquarters in the municipality, are making investments of more than 95 million euros that have created around 500 jobs.

“[São] 12 new investments. Some are already underway. About 95 million euros of investment. Nearly 500 more jobs, many of them in cutting-edge technology, particularly in engineering and biotechnology. More than 120 million euros of annual turnover ”, announced José António Jesus.

The mayor has indicated that these investments “are already underway or, to the limit, they will start until the beginning of next year” and belong to companies in the food, agricultural and forestry distribution, road access, logging and marketing sectors. poultry and other animals, seafood processing, construction, renewable energy, recycling, and pharmaceuticals.

In an event attended by the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, and before the entrepreneurs who are expanding their business areas already based in Tondela, the mayor listed the investments that have already been made and those that are happening, such as the Center Technological and Entrepreneurship.

“The work is progressing at great speed (with a cost much higher than 3.2 million euros) and it will be linked to a residency to host anyone who is part of research projects, master’s or doctorate, in a context of deep interaction between business fabric and university institutions ”, such as the Faculty of Science and Technology of the City of Coimbra, he highlighted.

José António Jesus defended that “this new investment plan will increase the diversification of the areas of economic activity, continuing to strengthen the structural clusters” and “greater productivity and higher turnover, which will correspond to greater wealth generated and, in consequently, higher levels of salary remuneration ”.

But at the same time, it is a test of resilience, fostering unwavering hope for our future, which leads us to praise the strong entrepreneurial dimension of these entrepreneurs, ”he praised.

The mayor listed the investments made to date so that the territory “is endowed with conditions and attractions capable of continuing to attract new investors, while having the ability to continue responding to the needs of those who, already being here, want to continue growing ”.

“The municipality of Tondela is and intends to continue being a strategic partner for all entrepreneurs, which is reflected in the continuous investments in the expansion and requalification of the Industrial Policies of Tondela and Lajedo, where in recent years, together with the works ongoing, municipal investment amounts to more than six million euros ”, he highlighted.

Likewise, it has announced that, “after the investment of two million euros in the expansion of the Municipal Industrial Zone of Lagedo (ZIM), new investments will be made in this business reception area”.

One of the projects mentioned is “the construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that addresses the implications of employment growth, which in ten years has multiplied by ten, from 300 to almost 3,000”.

That ZIM, he added, will gain a new connection “in a total of five kilometers that will allow at least 10 minutes in the circulation of each trip, in addition to contributing to road safety” and will cost three million euros.

In another ZIM, in Adiça, the municipality “will invest more than three million euros in [sua] expansion, requalification and resilience, regenerating it from the impacts it suffered in the great fire of 2017 ”, followed by“ another 20 hectares of growth ”.

“In this cycle of expansion of the ZIMs, we have already acquired about 40 hectares of land, with an investment of more than one million euros,” summarized the mayor of Tondela.
