“[[[[…]I have already heard unsuspected colleagues of mine make decisions in their minds, even as finance ministers, that we would not have thought to make in a month and a half. Then it wouldn’t be Right it’s not even true that I said […] that any option was taboo “, declared Mário Rye, in an interview with TVI, when asked if the interventions in the economic recovery plan direct or hint, such as the nationalization of companies.

“About TAP, for example, it has unique challenges. There are many ways to intervene, but this is also one of them,” Mário said. Rye, faced with a possible nationalization of the carrier in which the State is the largest shareholder with 50% of the capital.

Referring to the fact that the Government will have to “react to something for which there is no script”, the Minister of Finance refused to “eliminate any possibility of responding” to the impacts of the new coronavirus in the economy, for not knowing that “challenges will arise tomorrow”.

In the same interview, Rye said today that the government’s estimates point to a 6.5% drop in the GDP for 30 business days when the economy stalls due to greedy-19.

“The estimates that exist and we will shortly present figures in this regard are framed in events that range from 6.5% of the GDP annually for every 30 business days that the economy is, as it is today in Portugal, “said the minister.
