“We are expectant in relation to others who are being investigated,” said Sporting’s communication manager.

The Judicial Police (PJ) concluded the investigation in the context of the Cashball process, having, as reported by TVI, acquitted three of the four accused for lack of evidence. The exception is Paulo Silva, a businessman who reported the case in March 2018, when he revealed to the Public Ministry of Porto that he had been entrusted, through intermediaries such as agent João Gonçalves, to corrupt footballers from Sporting’s opposing teams, but also handball, to the detriment of FC Porto.

Miguel Braga, Sporting’s communication manager, gave up the official position of the club, leaving a message for the rival of the Second Circular. “We have not yet been officially notified. It is good and positive that Sporting is not involved in any corruption case, not even supposedly.

In addition to André Geraldes, who served as general director of Sporting’s SAD, the process also includes João Gonçalves, businessman, and Gonçalo Rodrigues, former employee of the Leonese club. Paulo Silva assured that they were the intermediaries.
