The municipality of Câmara de Lobos implemented prevention procedures in light of the expected worsening of the metrological conditions forecast for the next few hours.
After the possible worsening of the meteorological conditions in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with the possibility of intense and concentrated rainfall and moderate to strong winds, the municipality of Câmara de Lobos is promoting, in a preventive way, the implementation of actions and tasks and the implementation of emergency planning and management procedures that are considered adequate and / or adjusted to the phenomenology of the event.
According to President Pedro Coelho, “within the scope of our Municipal Alert and Alert System, the SMPC issued a Technical-Operational Communication, in conjunction with civil protection agents and / or entities or organizations involved in civil protection actions, with the objective of promoting cooperation and the definition of common operating procedures; while, within the framework of the information to the Community, a communiqué was issued to the population, with recommendations for the adoption of certain preventive and self-protection measures in the face of the event.
In operational terms, and in a preventive manner, “certain accesses were closed and conditioned, due to their location in higher risk areas, the respective opening being conditioned to the technical evaluation of the Municipal Civil Protection Service, together with the evolution of meteorological warnings issued by the Meteorological Institute ”.
Likewise, “and given the expected magnitude of the event, the preventive preparation and reinforcement of the means and resources that were considered necessary were carried out, that is, with the constitution of two operational teams, with the equipment, materials and essential resources for the resolution of any eventual emergency situation and civil protection ”.
