This Wednesday, for the second day in a row, Brazil registered a new record of deaths from covid-19 after adding 3,869 deaths in 24 hours, the executive said, adding that the total reached 321,515 deaths.

The day before, the South American nation, with 212 million inhabitants, had reached an all-time high of 3,780 lives lost in a single day. Thus, Brazil continues to be the country with the highest number of deaths registered in 24 hours worldwide, a trend that was recorded throughout the month of March, well above the United States, the country most affected by the pandemic in absolute numbers.

March comes to an end as the deadliest month of the pandemic in Brazil, after having concentrated 66,573 deaths from the disease in 31 days, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

According to the latest epidemiological bulletin released by the Ministry of Health, Brazil also registered 90,638 new cases of infection between Tuesday and today, the second day with the most covid-19 diagnoses in the country, just behind last March 25, when they represented 100,158 cases. In total, Brazil has concentrated 12,748,747 positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic, officially registered in the country about 13 months ago.

São Paulo, the focus of the pandemic in Brazilian territory, registered today, for the fifth time, more than a thousand deaths (1,160) from covid-19 in just 24 hours, in a total of 74,652 since the beginning of the pandemic. If São Paulo were a country, it would rank 11th in the world ranking of nations that concentrate the highest absolute number of deaths from the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The richest and most populous state in Brazil still totals 2,469,849 cases of infection.

Not in Rio de Janeiro, one of the federative units most affected by the country, the P.1 line of the new coronavirus, detected in the Amazon, is the main responsible for a new vague transmission of the doença in the region, secondly informed by representatives of the State Secretary Of health.
