The 23rd edition of Barroselas Metalfest, which should have happened this year and was postponed to 2021, after all will only happen in 2022, announced the organization, referring that “these dark times” do not allow a festival “as in the old days “.

The postponement of the festival, which takes place in Barroselas, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo, was announced by the organization in a publication on the official Barroselas Metalfest page of the Facebook social network.

“These dark times do not allow us to imagine Barroselas as in the old days, nor do our hearts accept a new disappointing outcome. Even at the risk of being wrong again, we prefer to postpone SWR Barroselas Metalfest April 23-28 – May 1, 2022 and face the future with optimism and common sense, ”the publication reads.

The 23rd edition of the festival should have been held between April 29 and May 2 of this year, but was postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic. At the end of March, the organization announced that the 23rd edition would be held on the same days, between April 29 and May 2, but in 2021.

The organization assures that, until 2022, “it will take advantage to work on new ideas and prepare another edition with calm and consideration”.

“It is very sad, even depressing and even disgusting, but a warrior will always be a warrior! The purchased tickets are still valid for 2022 and as soon as possible we will inform you about the return procedures ”, he says.

Barroselas Metalfest is the first Portuguese music festival to be postponed from 2021 to 2022.

The covid-19 pandemic meant that this year the usual music festivals, which bring together thousands of people and are mainly concentrated in the summer months, are not held around the world.

In Portugal, the 2020 editions of the festivals began in April to be postponed until 2021.

However, it was only in May, with the announcement of the ban on holding “festivals and shows of a similar nature” until September 30, and the subsequent approval by the Assembly of the Republic, that many organizations took the decision. decision to postpone the 2020 editions.

However, this type of show would be allowed with marked seats and complying with rules that allow social distance.

In the case of postponements, ticket holders had the right to request the exchange of the same for a voucher “of equal value to the price paid”, valid until December 31, 2021, and that may be used in the “purchase of admission tickets for the same show will be held on a new date or for other events held by the same promoter ”.

If the voucher is not used before December 31, 2021, “the holder is entitled to a refund of the amount”, being able to request it from January 1, 2022 and “within 14 business days”.

However, at the end of September, the Government decided to extend the ban on holding “festivals and shows of a similar nature” until December 31 of this year.
