In an interview with SIC, Luís Filipe Vieira explained why he does not agree to have any debate with the rest of the candidates for the club’s elections, scheduled for next 30.

“After everything that has been done for 20 years, the most important aspect now is sport. We had the best decade in terms of modalities and also in terms of financial results. In football he was the second best in history and I think that being able to exceed 60 will be very important, “he continued, without stopping, pointing out an advantage over the rest of the candidates (Bruno Costa Carvalho, Noronha Lopes and Rui Gomes da Silva):
«I know what I did and what I can do, about the other candidates that the partners decide. It is true that, in relation to them, there is a past that speaks for itself. What is done is very visible, so I have some advantage in that sense.
Vieira reiterated that, if elected, it will be his last term, but he also guaranteed that his succession is being prepared. “This needs continuity,” he said.
Taking into account that Pinto da Costa also announced that it will be his last term at FC Porto, Vieira was offered the chance to talk with his rival. The answer was clear: “No, I don’t want to sit at the table with anyone. We’ve had too many experiments that never worked, so they’re not even worth talking about.
