Through a statement on the official website, Meshkov Brest announced that FC Porto is withdrawing from the Handball Champions League. At the base of this decision is the cardiopulmonary arrest suffered by goalkeeper Alfredo Quintana, last Monday.
The Belarusian emblem, which was set to face FC Porto on Wednesday, explains to the fans that the match will not be played due to the withdrawal of the Portuguese team and that it will reimburse all ticket holders. “We wish Alfredo Quintana the best and we apologize to all the fans,” the statement said.
