Beira-Mar announced on Monday that Ricardo Sousa was leaving the position of coach, by mutual agreement.
“Sport Clube Beira-Mar informs that by mutual agreement Ricardo Sousa ends his relationship as coach of the senior soccer team”, can be read in the statement released by the Aveiro emblem.
“Ricardo will always be one of the great ambassadors of Paixão Aurinegra and the way and the commitment with which he has always represented our club will be forever marked in the history of Beiramarenses”, you can read.
Ricardo Sousa, 42, leaves the technical command of Beira-Mar after two consecutive defeats in the Portuguese Championship, where the Aveiro team occupies the sixth position in Serie D, with 23 points in 16 games.
The coach turned to social networks to highlight the work done in the season and a half at the service of the heart club.
«A beautiful cycle that ends after a season and a half of work, perseverance, resilience, effort and dedication. Despite the difficulties encountered from day one in returning professionalism to the club, we have done everything possible to evolve this enormous club. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but due to the connection and proximity to the club and the city, we never gave in and gave the best we could offer.
In this atypical season, the difficulties started from an early age, the formation of the squad, the training conditions, the constant changes in training venues, where stability was often questioned. Even with all this and with one of the 3 lowest budgets in our series, we did not refuse to assume the expectation of being in the top 5, a goal that was still evident within the group, especially since with 1 game behind, we were 3 5th place points that gave us access to the proposed objective.
It is a bittersweet start because we believed we were going to reach the goal, because with 6 games to go, we would have 4 at home and 2 away, but we respect the coach’s decision.
There is a part of my being that has resisted physical and also psychological changes throughout the years, this sacred and impenetrable part is called peaceful consciousness and this extends to the entire work group, in which I have always trusted and will always trust and they always have enormous pride.
A special thanks and gratitude to the players for the dedication and dedication with which they always defended me, thanks for having believed in my idea of the game, the commitment to quality and the spirit of sacrifice always mixed with professionalism.
I am not forgetting the good and bad things we did in this period, they are NUMBERS and these are AVAILABLE !!
