“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman dies of cancer at age 43

Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before starring in the Marvel movie “Black Panther,” died of cancer on Friday, his representative said.

Chadwick Boseman passed away, at age 43, at his home in the Los Angeles, United States, area, along with his wife and the rest of the family.

The actor was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago, the family said in a statement.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered in everything and brought you many of the movies you loved so much,” the family said, adding, “From ‘Marshall – Equality and Justice’ to ‘Da 5 Bloods – Brothers in Arms’,’ Ma August Wilson’s Rainey’s Black Bottom ‘, and several others, were filmed during and between numerous surgeries and chemotherapy. It was his career honor to bring King T’Challa to life in’ Black Panther.

Chadwick Boseman had not spoken publicly about his illness.

Born in South Carolina, Chadwick Boseman started out with small television roles. His stunning portrait of stoic baseball star Jackie Robinson alongside Harrison ford In “42 – The Story of a Legend” (2013) he attracted attention in Hollywood.

Chadwick Boseman died the day Major League Baseball celebrated Jackie Robinson’s day.
