The Portuguese coach spent just over two months in charge of the Basque shield.

In 15 games at the helm of Vasco da Gama, Sá Pinto led the Rio de Janeiro team to just three victories, in a season that ends now, with the departure of the Portuguese club coach.

The 48-year-old coach spent just over two months on the Basque bench, at a time when the club is going through a deep economic crisis. The players – as highlighted when Sá Pinto arrived in Brazil – have several months of salary arrears and the technical team has not received any salary since signing the contract in mid-October.

The casualties caused by the covid-19, added to several injuries, did not facilitate the work of Sá Pinto, who came to see a training invaded by fans in the form of a fight.

The objective of guaranteeing the permanence of Vasco da Gama in Brasileirão was also complicated by the managerial instability that the club is going through, with the elections disputed and the new management putting pressure on the one who remains in office.

Ricardo Sá Pinto leaves Vasco in 17th place in the championship table, first place in the relegation zone, with the same 28 points as ranked 16th, Bahia.
