Benfica beat FC Porto in the first round of the roller hockey championship.

Benfica thrashed FC Porto this Saturday, 7-3, in a match that counted for the first round of the roller hockey championship.

The team led by Alejandro Domínguez took the lead in the sixth minute, by Valter Neves, and Gonçalo Pinto scored the second and third goals of the afternoon at Pavilhão da Luz. Xavi Barroso managed to reduce for FC Porto, but, before the break, Lucas Ordoñez replaced the scoring difference with three goals, putting it 4-1.

At the beginning of the second half, Nicolia also put his name on the scorers list and, later, Ordóñez made a “double”, making it 6-1. The 7-1 reached the penalty spot, which Nicolia did not waste, and the best FC Porto achieved was to reach 7-3, with goals from Gonçalo Alves and the “bis” from Xavi Barroso.

Benfica entered the field better and in the first moments Valter Neves, Nicolia and Diogo Rafael put Malián’s reflexes to the test. As expected, the ’embodied’ advanced on the scoreboard at six, from captain Valter Neves. Nicolia recovered a ball at the final table, assisted the captain to “incarnate” in the “center” of the area and shot, unopposed, for 1-0.

Poka could have leveled for FC Porto in the next minute, but Pedro Henriques deflected the ball with a goal stamp. The “Eagles” goalkeeper was an almost insurmountable wall in the first half and it was on top of that security in defense that Benfica left for a more comfortable result.

At 18 minutes, Gonçalo Pinto made it 2-0, when he appeared in a timely manner on Malián’s “face”, deflecting a superb pass from Diogo Rafael, and, two minutes later, he “doubled”, reissuing the association with Rafael. The Portuguese international came through the Porto defense, dragging everything and everyone, and, when the rivals already anticipated the shot, the Benfica player looked at Gonçalo Pinto, who, free of goal, scored an easy goal.

Despite looking lost on the ground, FC Porto managed to reduce the disadvantage with a shot from Xavi Barroso. The Asturian bet on a midfield shot to surprise Pedro Henriques and did not give the ‘eagles’ goalkeeper a chance, reducing it to 3-1.

However, Benfica’s “merry-go-round” remained and, in one more play in which Benfica appeared with a numerical advantage over Malián, Ordoñez made it 4-1. The Argentine received from Nicolia after a counterattack, fired hard at the crossbar and, in reloading, against the defenseless Malián, “won” 4-1.

As in the first, Benfica entered the second half to put pressure on the Blue and Whites and Nicolia, at 28 minutes, extended to 5-1, with a cross shot. The hosts dominated to their beautiful pleasure and, in the 36 It was time for the match: Lucas Ordoñez came out alone for Porto’s goal, in the middle of the “trip” he lifted the ball and, with a mid-range shot, beat Malián for the sixth time.

The championship debut was truly an afternoon to forget for FC Porto, who in the 38th minute saw Gonçalo Alves blow a direct free kick. The striker allowed Pedro Henriques to defend on the first attempt and, on the reload, although he was already pressured by the “red” defense, he again failed to lower the disadvantage for the “dragons”.

Nicolia, in the opposite goal, did not imitate the Portuguese international and, in the conversion of the direct free kick, to sanction Porto’s tenth foul, he made the “bis” in Luz, putting the result in 7-1.

Benfica then calmed down their game and it was time for FC Porto to react: a goal from Gonçalo Alves and another from Xavi Barroso offered the Porto players 7-3, thus leaving a more “colorful” image when visiting the Pavilhão da Luz.
