The Left Bloc “does not want any political crisis” and the bloc leader, Catarina Martins, refuses to have been intransigent in the budget negotiations, committing to present herself in the specialty “neither more nor less” than she has been fighting.

Catarina Martins was interviewed this afternoon by Miguel Sousa Tavares on TVI, the day after BE announced its vote against most of the State Budgets for 2021 (OE2021), a position that the Government already described as “incomprehensible.”

“Of course, the Left Bloc does not want any political crisis and the Prime Minister has already said – and I accompany him – that it is not the Budget that determines whether or not there is a political crisis. We need to have a State Budget to be able to respond to the country ”, he assured.

In the BE leader’s perspective, clarity on what the OE2021 party thinks “is better sooner rather than later to find solutions”, in the name of that clarity that blockers cannot “commit to a budget that makes the SNS for next year it will be more fragile and less social protection “.

“The Bloco de Esquerda will present in the specialty neither more nor less than the measures for which it has been fighting until now,” he anticipated.

Faced with the fact that this cannot be BE’s budget, since it was not the party that won the elections, Catarina Martins was perpetual: “nor is it our idea.”

According to the coordinator of the blockade, the measures proposed to the Government in the budget negotiations are “so small and so surgical”, but they represent the party’s mandate, since “the people who voted for BE decided to vote for the Bloc and not for the PS “by” which means BE “.

“BE did not have an intransigent position,” he emphasized.

The Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Duarte Cordeiro, today considered “incomprehensible” the decision of the Left Bloc to vote against the Budget, moving away from the negotiation process, and defended that new attempts at rapprochement only if this party unleashes them.

The unregistered deputy Cristina Rodrigues announced this morning that she would abstain from voting on the generality of proposal OE2021, which mathematically guaranteed the viability of the document.

After the Left Bloc announced on Sunday the vote against the Budget and the PAN abstained, the Government and the PS needed to guarantee at least one more abstention to approve, in general, the 2021 Budget.

The PS, with 108 deputies, needed eight votes in favor of other seats or 15 abstentions to approve the budget.

On the “leader” side, and after BE’s “no”, they count 105 votes: 79 from the PSD, 19 from the Bloc, five from the CDS, one from Chega and one from the Liberal Initiative (IL).

The PCP, with 10 deputies, was the first to announce, on Friday, that it will abstain, to which the three PAN deputies joined on Sunday and the guarantee of the unregistered deputy Joacine Katar Moreira that he would not vote. against.

The vote of the PEV is yet to be known, whose announcement will be made on Tuesday.

The debate on the State Budgets for 2021 is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in parliament, being voted, in general, on the last day.
