Bad weather forces the Câmara do Funchal to close the bathing complexes and the Funchal Ecological Park

The Funchal City Council (CMF) informs that tomorrow, Monday, January 4, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) foresees the occurrence of adverse weather conditions on the south coast of the island of Madeira, which will probably cause damages people and goods. So it will close the bath complexes and the Funchal Ecological Park.

In addition to the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Funchal, teams from the Department of the Environment, the Division of Urban Gardens and Green Spaces, Águas do Funchal and the Department of Infrastructures and Equipment are also already on the side of prevention. The Municipal Civil Protection Service of Funchal recommends the population to adopt preventive and self-protection measures against heavy rains, highlighting:

– adoption of defensive driving, reducing speed and taking special care with the possible formation of water tables;

– avoid routes in mountainous areas, exposed slopes and coastal areas;

– take special care when driving and staying near wooded areas, paying attention to the possibility of falling branches or trees and other debris, as well as staying near mounted or suspended infrastructures;

– try to unblock rainwater drainage systems near houses;

– be attentive to the instructions of Civil Protection and Security Forces.
