The Regional Service of Civil Protection and Firefighters of the Azores (SRPCBA) registered this Sunday, “as a result of the rains and intense winds that are being felt in the archipelago”, 13 occurrences, mainly falls of trees and floods.

The events, the Civil Protection source told the Lusa agency, are distributed among the islands of São Miguel (nine), Terceira (three) and Faial (one).

In São Miguel, there were five occurrences in the Ponta Delgada municipality, three in Ribeira Grande, and one in the Northeast.

“The situations are related to falling trees, floods (in houses, one in a restaurant and another on a highway) and the fall of elements that support a work,” says the official.

In Terceira, three events were recorded, two related to falling trees and a flood, all in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.

At Faial, there was a flood from a road through the sea.

The bad weather in the archipelago this Sunday caused the interruption and postponement of the soccer match between Santa Clara and Benfica.
