Whoever left the newborn at the place left a note in the basket: “We cannot keep the child.”
A 21-day-old baby was found near the Baptista do Cacém Social Center in a basket on Tuesday night.
The newborn was wearing a diaper and next to him he had a bottle and a note, according to Correio da Manhã.
“We cannot keep the child. We ask the center to take the child,” transcribes that newspaper.
The crying of the baby alerted the people who were in the center and who called the authorities, while the police from the Sintra division sent the baby to the pediatric services of the Amadora Sintra Hospital where he remains hospitalized, but in good condition of health.
The case will now be addressed through the articulation between the social workers and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia with a view to welcoming it.
