Azores registers 57 new Covid-19 infections

These results are derived from the 1,467 analyzes carried out in the two reference laboratories of the Region and 3,425 analyzes in the context of massive screening carried out in the parish of Rabo de Peixe, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande – island of S. Miguel , which alone found 28 new positive cases.

SÃO MIGUEL – 45 NEW CASES

– 11 new cases in the context of previously identified transmission chains, two new cases to be evaluated, two new cases resulting from a new transmission chain in Lagoa and 28 new cases in Rabo de Peixe, the result of rapid tests within the framework of the screening in progress, not related to previous strings. Two new cases with a travel history, one resident and one non-resident, were also investigated and tested positive on the sixth day.

THIRD ISLAND – 12 NEW CASES

– 3 cases in the context of previously identified transmission chains, 3 cases to be evaluated, 2 cases of a new transmission chain in Angra do Heroísmo, 1 case of a new transmission chain in Angra do Heroísmo and 3 cases of a second new chain in Angra do Heroísmo, and the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo thus registered three new chains in the last 24 hours.

RECOVERIES – 9

Seven recoveries were recorded on Terceira Island, all in Angra do Heroísmo, 1 in Pico Island (São Roque) and 1 in Flores (Lajes).

CURRENT SITUATION IN THE REGION

– The Region now has 46 active transmission chains, 32 in S. Miguel (with the emergence of a new São Miguel + Lagoa chain), a São Miguel + S. Jorge chain and 13 in Terceira (three new in Angra del heroísmo ). In the Region, 20 transmission chains have already been extinguished, the last of which in Pico, in S. Roque, in the last 24 hours.

To date, there are 485 active positive cases, 355 in S. Miguel, 128 in Terceira, 1 in Pico and 1 in Faial.

– To date, 1,290 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, have been detected, with 19 deaths and 703 recoveries.

As of today, 18 people were admitted to the hospital, 7 at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada, 10 at the Hospital de Santo Espírito on Terceira Island (3 of which in the ICU) and 1 at the Hospital da Horta.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.
