Azores registers 25 new cases and 2 recoveries

On the island of São Miguel, in the sphere of the transmission chain related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, three positive cases were detected, referring to a 25-year-old female and two male, 19 and 45 years.

In the context of a chain of transmission reported on Saturday, with a center in the municipality of Povoação, two positive cases were detected, namely a 37-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man.

The epidemiological investigation related to a chain of transmission with a center in the municipality of Ribeira Grande revealed a positive case, reporting to a 42-year-old woman.

As part of a chain of transmission associated with a hotel in the Ponta Delgada municipality, a 29-year-old woman was diagnosed.

In the context of a chain of transmission reported on November 18, two positive cases were detected, namely a 68-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man.

During the epidemiological investigation of a chain of transmission reported on Saturday, associated with a nursery in Ponta Delgada, two positive cases were detected, namely a 20-year-old woman and a five-month-old male.

On the island of São Miguel, five new transmission chains were detected, under which four female individuals, aged between 27 and 62 years, and three males, between 14 and 57 years old, were diagnosed.

On the island of Terceira, in the context of a chain of transmission centered in the Praia da Vitória municipality and reported on November 17, a 39-year-old woman was diagnosed.

Within the chain of transmission associated with a restaurant in the São Mateus parish, four positive cases were detected, referring to three women, aged 26 to 80 years, and a man, 67 years old.

A 48-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were also diagnosed, the latter the result of a screening in the workplace, carried out in a private laboratory, with the cases under epidemiological investigation.

It should be noted that all the contacts close to the penitentiary centers and the cases under epidemiological investigation were subjected to prophylactic isolation from the moment they were identified by the Municipal Health Office.

Two recoveries were recorded on Terceira Island, a woman and a man, both 26 years old, bringing the total number of cases recovered in the Region to 392.

The Region now has 13 extinct transmission chains and 26 active transmission chains, 19 on the island of São Miguel, five on the island of Terceira, one shared between the island of São Miguel and the island of São Jorge, and one on the island of São Jorge.

So far, 796 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, and there are currently 392 recovered cases and 310 active positive cases, of which 243 in the São Miguel island. , 62 on Terceira Island, two on São Jorge Island and three on Faial Island.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and reinforced, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.
