Azores registers 19 new infections on the island of São Miguel

In the parish of Rabo de Peixe in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, 17 new cases were diagnosed and in the parish of São José in Ponta Delgada, two new cases were diagnosed.

All are the result of community transmission.

The massive screening of the Rabo de Peixe school community yielded 21 new positive cases, out of the 1,454 tests carried out between the 25th and 27th of this year.

Also in the last 24 hours, eight people recovered from the disease, six in S. Miguel, in Rabo de Peixe, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande and two in Pico, one in Madalena and one in São Roque.

The Region does not have a record of any internment and currently has 864 active surveillance personnel. The local transmission chain on the island of Pico is also active.

This Sunday there are 66 active positive cases in the archipelago, 58 in São Miguel, six in Pico, one in Terceira and one in Faial.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,870 cases have been diagnosed, 3,670 patients have recovered from the disease and 29 have died.
