On the island of São Jorge, a 25-year-old man, not a resident of the Region, was diagnosed with an air connection with the mainland, who underwent a detection test for SARS-CoV-2 upon arrival with a negative result. and obtained a positive result in the test carried out from the sixth day.

On the island of Faial, a positive case was detected through a SARS-CoV-2 screening test carried out upon arrival in the archipelago, referring to a 45-year-old male, non-resident in the Region and from an air connection with continental territory.

In the field of transmission chains in the epidemiological investigation on the island of São Miguel, 11 cases were identified, of which 10 on the island of São Miguel and one on the island of São Jorge.

Thus, two women, between 8 and 27 years old, and four men, between 18 and 62 years old, were detected, and the Municipal Health Authority determined the temporary closure of an educational establishment in the municipality of Ribeira Grande.

In the context of the epidemiological investigation related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, three positive cases were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, reporting to males between 36 and 66 years old, and one positive case in the island. de São Jorge, corresponding to a female person, 24 years old.

On the island of São Miguel, a 61-year-old man was also diagnosed, in close contact with another previously reported case.

It should also be noted that, fulfilling the criteria for recovery in continental territory, two male individuals, aged 26 and 34, left the island of Terceira and the other from the island of São Miguel left the Region.

Thus, so far 457 cases of contagion by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, and there are currently 241 recovered cases and 135 active positives, of which 107 in the São Miguel Island, 14 on Terceira Island, one on Graciosa Island, two on São Jorge Island, six on Pico Island, three on Faial Island, one on Santa María Island and one on Flores Island.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.
