Azores registers 11 new cases in the last 24 hours and a recovery

As part of the screening upon arrival in the archipelago, a 21-year-old male, not a resident of the Region, was diagnosed from an air connection with the Portuguese peninsula, who underwent a SARS-CoV-2 screening with a positive result upon arrival on the island of São Miguel.

In the context of the epidemiological investigation related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, four positive cases were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, reporting two women, aged 36 and 51, and two men, aged 19 and 62 , and three positive cases on the island of São Jorge, referring to two women aged 26 and 28 years and a man aged 46 years.

In the context of the epidemiological investigation of another previously reported case, a 42-year-old man and a 9-year-old girl were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel and a biological sample of high-risk close contacts and some isolation was taken for teachers, non-teaching workers and the respective class of an educational establishment in Ponta Delgada.

On the island of São Miguel, a 55-year-old woman was also diagnosed, related to the chain of transmission in the epidemiological investigation focused on Ribeira Grande.

Furthermore, it was observed that a 30-year-old man recovered on the island of São Miguel, increasing the number of cases recovered in the Region to 243.

Thus, to date, 483 cases of infection by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus have been detected in the Region, with currently 159 active positive cases, of which 124 on the island of São Miguel, 17 on the island of Terceira , one on the island of Graciosa. , six on the island of São Jorge, six on the island of Pico, three on the island of Faial, one on the island of Santa María and one on the island of Flores.
