Azores registers 105 new cases in the last 24 hours

SÃO MIGUEL – 98 NEW CASES

According to the daily statement of the Regional Health Authority, in São Miguel, where 98 cases were registered, 27 arose in the context of previously identified transmission chains, 16 as a result of rapid tests.

There is also a new case to be evaluated, two new cases resulting from a new chain of transmission in Ribeira Grande, also from rapid tests, and 68 new cases of massive screening in Rabo de Peixe, not related to pre-existing chains, in relation to tests fast.

The number of infections associated with Vila de Rabo de Peixe is 86 cases.

THIRD ISLAND – 6 NEW CASES

– Three new cases in the context of previously identified transmission chains, and three new cases in Angra do Heroísmo, related to a new transmission chain in this municipality.

RECOVERIES – 23

Nine recoveries were registered in Terceira Island (seven in Praia da Vitória and two in Angra do Heroísmo), 12 recoveries in S. Miguel (seven in Ponta Delgada, one in Ribeira Grande and four in Povoação), one in Pico (São Roque ) and one in Flores (Lajes).

CURRENT SITUATION IN THE REGION

– The Region now has 43 active transmission chains, 31 in S. Miguel (with the emergence of a new São Miguel + Ribeira Grande chain), a São Miguel + S. Jorge chain, one in Pico and 10 in Terceira (one new in Angra do Heroísmo). In the Region, 19 transmission chains have already been extinguished, the last of which is São Miguel / Ribeira Grande, in the last 24 hours.

There are 457 active positive cases to date, 310 in S. Miguel, 123 in Terceira Island, two in Pico, one in Faial and one in Flores.

– To date, 1,233 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease, have been detected, with 19 deaths and 694 recovery cases.

There are 17 people admitted to the hospital today, seven in the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada, 9 in the Hospital de Santo Espírito in Ilha Terceira (two of whom are in ICU) and one in the Hospital da Horta.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.
