These are very harsh words from the President of the Republic about the work of the General Health Directorate (DGS) and its director, Graça Freitas.

“When on May 26 of this year I extended the law until 19/2020 on festivals and parties, I drew attention to 3 important points: that DGS intervene with clarity; in a timely manner so that people know the rules of the game in advance; the third, respecting the principle of equality, ”said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa today during a visit to Monchique, district of Faro.

“We are now five days away from the event and the position of the health authorities on the rules that they believe should govern the event is unknown. There is no timely knowledge, there is no clarity and there is no way of knowing whether about the principle of equality. This is not good, it is not good for anyone, it is not good for the State ”, declared the President in statements broadcast by CMTV.

“DGS means State, it is a general direction within the State. Not good for those who organize this lack of rules. [PCP]and it is not good for credibility which is critical at this time, which has seen ups and downs. Lately, the values have risen a lot, being there on a line of ups and downs that is not a break. More than on other occasions, it was necessary to know the rules of the game beforehand ”, declared the Head of State.

“If the rules of the game were clearly known, it is not known, and if it could be compared with other situations, it is not possible, that worries me and I think it does not bode well at this distance. I never thought that when I spoke about the same subject here in the Algarve three weeks ago we would arrive in five days without knowing the rules of the game, ”according to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
